Haven't We Been Here Before?...

This time last year the Rockies were in the same position they currently find themselves in this year, 6 games out of a playoff spot. We all know what happened last season. But do we know what will happen this season? We know what we would like to see happen, but that is up to the players and what happens on the field and in the standings.

Rockies fans, beware of a team that has played well as of late on the road as the Rockies have been doing, but at the same time finds a way to play down to the level of lesser teams. We have that this weekend in San Diego. The Rockies should win all three games in San Diego and that's important as the Dodgers and D'Backs are battling each other both on losing streaks. The Dodgers have lost 7 straight and the D'Backs lost 4 in a row, 3 of them at the hands of the Padres. The best we can hope for as Rockies fans is that Arizona loses all three and the Rockies sweep the Padres. That will create an I-25 like traffic jam for the NL West division if that scenario should play out that way.

The Rockies have thier three best pitchers going against the Padres and if the bats continue to stay hot, then the Rox should come away with a sweep. The matchup I'm most looking forward to is Saturday's matchup, Ubaldo Jimenez against Jake Peavy, but a win tonight for Aaron Cook gets the momentum rolling, setting up the matchup on Saturday night.
